Please allow me to introduce myself…

It’s been a long and interesting journey which has brought me this far and I am looking forward to continuing it with you all in the Sancroft Benefice.

I grew up in Framsden and Suffolk is in my veins. Having said that I have spent a long time away from it. I went to Manchester University to study nursing and I ended up specialising in tuberculosis which took me all over the world. It took me to the poorest countries as well as the poorest places in countries where there was also extraordinary wealth.  My work taught me a lot about suffering and injustice as well as resilience and hope. I was privileged to work with the most amazing nurses whose grace and determination made a huge impact on the people they served.

My husband Felix spent his teenage years in Suffolk although we did not meet until years later in London. We got married in 2001 and we moved back to Suffolk in 2004. We now have two boys, Isaac, 15, and Byrn, 13, who both go to Hartismere High School.

My calling to the Anglican Church came like a bolt out of the blue especially as I was a regular at the Vine Baptist Church in Eye. I have spent the last two years on a full-time contextual Dipolma in Theology with the Eastern Region Ministry Course. It has involved church placements as well as academic study and it has been a wonderfully rich experience.

Rural ministry is where I feel called to serve and I am looking forward to getting to know all the villages in the Sancroft Benefice. The first vicar I spoke to in my confusion about my calling was Rev’ Canon Susan Loxton so it’s wonderful that she has agreed to be my training incumbant. I cannot say I have a preferred worship style as I enjoy the variety that the Church of England embraces from the Book of Common Prayer to Messy Church. The main thing is to help us all to connect more with God and each other in these challenging times. I have learnt a lot so far and I am looking forward to learning a lot more with you all.
